Message	The plastic console wouldn most likely melt before it caught fire, keeping any direct flames away from the shifter. Then the shift boot is leather which is somewhat flame retardent. And as a last line of defense, rubber doesn't catch fire very easily either unless exposed directly to flames. John EngineeringHobbyist.com
